Mathew 6:3 “But when you give alms, your left hand must not know what your right is doing”

I wondered many times whether this is literally possible and the practicality of it, until this potential explanation arouse in my mind today:

Perhaps, the imagery of “left hand and right hand” of same flesh could apply to the “husband and wife” who are also one in flesh according to Word of God. This would imply that I do not need to trumpet the good deeds I do even to my spouse.

Why not share with my spouse?

• One reason, to not disclose an act of charity, could be to avoid the trap of pride.
• Secondly, perhaps this would help me practice the habit of sharing a secret personal space with my God the Abba Father.
